My Connemara May Bank Holiday Walk

I have to say that when I woke up at 5.30am this morning and I heard the rain dancing on the roof, I didn’t really feel that inspired to walk the dogs. A few hot cups of coffee later I donned my rain gear and I was ready to go. When you have a couple of huge boxer dogs waiting for you impatiently in the other room you have no time to waste. Imagine my pleasant surprise when I put my nose out and I found out it had actually stooped raining. Yay!! And this is how me and the boys, we had the perfect Connemara May Bank Holiday Walk. Have […]

Time for Spring

You know what?! I am tired of defrosting the car every morning before going to work!! Or of the wind howling outside the windows while the rain rattles the roof so loud that it keeps us awake at night!! I say, it is time for spring!! We are ready to welcome the sun. We can not wait for the daffodils to bloom and the trees to adorn their lovely garments of white and pink fluff. Comoooooon, I say, we are waiting, for the good weather!!

Galway International Rally | FINAL RESULTS in pictures and video

The 2016 Corrib Oil Galway International Rally will go down in the history books as possibly the best ever! It was a new dawn for Irish rallying as the R5 category of cars took over as the main vehicles in the Irish Tarmac Championship, of which the Galway International Rally is the first round. Monsoon like conditions greeted the drivers over the weekend, which was in stark contrast to last year’s crisp dry weather. Fermanagh man Garry Jennings with navigator Rory Kennedy in a Subaru Impreza WRC took their first ever Galway International Rally win after faultless drive. Garry commented at the finish ramp outside The Clayton Hotel, that he was […]

Christmas Temptations

We all secretly know that at the end of the day, Christmas is all about the food and getting together with the family.. Well, and about the presents of course. I suppose it depends how old you are. There is that bit about spending tonnes of money as well. Some people like that, mind you. Imagine, we all spend so much money for something that goes out in a flash and with a bang in about 24 hours. Fantastic, isn’t it?! So to tease you a little bit I give my selection of scrumptious Christmas images.   Nothing like a feast for the eyes, especially when Christmas is literally just around the […]

I think I am getting a bit touchy at the word “Christmas”.  I remember when my kids were in primary school their teacher had forbidden anyone to mention the “C WORD” until a week before the actual event when anyone could repeat it freely and non stop (probably they did ) I think she had a good point! Getting too excited over Christmas and too early at that, certainly spoils all the fun. Like this year for example. Galway city got festively decorated in the very beginning of November. WHAT THE CRAIC?! Beginning of November!? Am I the only one that finds it a bit early? Halloween decorations were still on […]

colourful leaves on the ground, red shoes

Galway in the Rain

The weather has been so horribly bad for the last week it was simply impossible to do anything outdoors. I am not going to even mention a casual stroll with a camera in hand, not when there is a yellow weather warning for everyone to stay indoors and keep the shutters bolted. Not when it keeps hailing every few hours – big hard balls of ice that the wind drives into the face with particularly unpleasant force!! Not when everything that is a bit loose and forgotten somewhere in the garden starts flying happily around  – you can simply forget about it!! It’s been a hell of a week and apparently it […]

The CRAIC in Galway, August 2015, Edition 48, @AnPucan

Welcome to the 48th edition of the Craic in Galway magazine.  Isn’t it just fantastic when someone has the opportunity to meet their hero.  Elena Tully from Renmore managed just that when she met Hollywood icon Bette Midler at her concert at the O2 in London.  Overwhelmed with the emotion of it all, Elena managed to squeeze three hugs out of the star following an amazing performance.  She has the memories, and of course the photo, to last a lifetime.  Another Renmore beauty, Tirna Slevin, is following her dream in the hope of becoming Miss Ireland, while Moycullen’s Olga Lee, will battle it out on prime time TV for the chance […]

Things I’m Going to Miss About Galway by Grace McKeever

Things I’m Going to Miss About Galway Posted on July 15, 2015 by gracemckeever As the college year 2014-2015 draws to a close, students are roaring an almighty “HAZZAH!” as it signifies the ending of long days spent gruelling over assignments in the bastille of James Hardi’, it extinguishes the worry of exams and it thrusts us into the long awaited summer. Albeit, the summer season is rife with reasons to anticipate the adjourning of college, but there are plenty of reasons we’d be wagging our tails at the thought of coming back… via Things I’m Going to Miss About Galway.
