Galway City Roller Derby Open Day is taking place this Sunday, August the 27th in the Salthill-Knocknacarra GAA on Dr Mannix Road, Salthill. This is will be a free fun event where anyone over 18 years of age  can come to try on skates and gear, to see if they would be interested in learning to skate and play roller derby. Skates and gear provided. Mouthguard’s required but some will be available to buy on the day if needed. NO previous experience required. Times: 5-7pm in The Aras GAA hall, Dr. Mannix Rd, Salthill. His death, after an illness, was confirmed at the week-end by the GAA. His funeral is tomorrow 24 May. Scroll down for more funeral details. Mr McDonagh, an Irish speaker from County Galway, was president of the association between 1994 and 1997. He captained Galway hurlers to the All-Ireland championship in 1980 and won his county’s, and nation’s hearts when he led Croke Park in a memorable rendition of The West’s Awake. World Class Athletes mastered AIT International Grand Prix The Canadian World Pole Vault Champion, Shawn Barber with another gold from AIT International Grand Prix. Barber made an impressive start to the season by setting a lifetime best of 6.00m at the Pole Vault Summit in Reno on Friday last. Yesterday he won AIT on 5.77m.
