Join us for Galway City Roller Derby’s annual table quiz fundraiser. This years fundraiser is held in conjunction with Galway Rape Crisis Centre. There will be fabulous quiz and raffle prizes on the night not to mention the chance to pick up some Galway City Roller Derby merchandise. The table quiz will take place on Thursday November 9th at 8pm in John Keogh’s bar. Entry is €10 per person, 5 maximum to a team. We hope to see you there!

‘Second Wind’ and great CRAIC this Easter Sunday with a comeback of the Blizzards from Westmeath in Monroe’s Live. Irish band originally from Mullingar in County Westmeath formed by Niall Breslin and Killian Egan in late 2004 managed to rock the audience of Galway’s Premier Live Music Venue, Monroe’s Live with their extatic blistering show. ‘Are you Sound?’ ‘He is Sound’ was the motto of the night and Niall Breslin, the frontman and former GAA and Leinster Rugby footballer had the crowd in his possession for the most of the gig. ‘Galway Night for Syria’ -A local group of people from Galway have come together trying to fundraise money for the people of Syria. “We are all painfully aware are really suffering. We are having a fundraising night in the Clayton Hotel on Thursday the 16th of March 2017 to raise much-needed funds,” informed organiser of the event Dawn Connolly Bowles The ticket price will be €20.. Sean Slattery and the Connections will be playing on the night. There will be finger food and it will be followed by a DJ. We will have some great spot prizes and other fun fundraising activities.
GALWAY CITY MUSEUM Saturday, 22 October, 2pm – 4pm TALK & READINGS: Revolutionary Poetry. The 1916 Rising is often referred to as a ‘poet’s revolution’. Taking this as her starting point, poet Emily Cullen PhD, will introduce the work of international poets of revolution – historic and contemporary – including Anna Akhmatova, Osip Mandelstam and Rafeef Ziadah. After that Galway-based Albanian poet Ndrek Gjini MA, who lived through the oppressive Enver Hoxha regime in the 1980s, will talk about Communism in the Balkans in the middle of the 20th Century and will discuss the work of Visar Zhiti and Vaclav Havel.
