Currently we are going through a second golden age for Irish whiskey. A few years ago there were only 4 distilleries on the island and next year we are expecting to see nearly 30 in operation. Irish whiskey is no longer playing to the stereotype of the “fighting Irish” or just a simple additive to make caffeine alcoholic. The Irish whiskey industry is forging a its place in the global marketplace. It’s synonymous with traditional craft, high quality, smooth and palatable whiskey and this reputation has seen the sector grow by double digits for the last few years. Galway’s 11 celebrating 200 Years of Whiskey in the city!

Macnas are launching the Galway Whiskey Trail today! Galway’s extraordinary street  theater are bringing their show to The Spanish Arch at 9:30pm to celebrate 200 years of whiskey  distilling in the cultural hub of the west of Ireland. The 11 Whiskey Trail venues are – Tigh Neachtain, The Dáil Bar, An Púcan, McCambridge’s, Garveys, O’Connell’s, Garavans, Blake’s Bar, Freeney’s, Sonny Molloy’s, and The Kings Head. A President’s Tribute

President Michael D Higgins was among those who paid a fond and heartfelt tribute to the late Tom Feeney – President of St Patrick’s Brass Band – at a special memorial concert held in his honour in July. 5 to 6 morning at Black Rock before Frances Thornton Memorial

06:54:54 am Saturday 25th July 2015. The best possible weather conditions for a daily swim at Galway’s Black Rock. At around 11:30 am 80 swimmers will arrive at the same location after a swim from Clare 13 kilometres across Galway Bay. Renmore Beauty Tirna Ready for Miss Ireland!

by Avril HORAN On August 28th, Renmore’s Tirna Slevin will take to the catwalk to represent Galway in the Miss Ireland finals 2015.  The 20-year-old beauty is no stranger to the limelight as she is a model with the local Catwalk agency, whilst also juggling her studies in event management and PR at GMIT and waitressing at the G-hotel.
