The STUNNING Back in the studio!..New songs!..USA!..Vikings!..Moone Boy! It’s hard to believe, but 28 years ago in 1987, The Stunning were born. In 1990 their debut album ‘Paradise In The Picturehouse’ spent five weeks at number one and became one of the most-loved Irish albums of all time. Two years later, the follow up ‘Once Around The World’ also hit the No. […]

Make The Change We are what we eat… By Miguel MAZA Yeah, I know… It’s a cliche. But, it’s true. For most of us who have a slow metabolism, nutrition is very important for any goal we have in our life. If we want to keep ourselves sane, or if we want to live longer. If we want to build muscle, lose fat or get stronger, nutrition or our diet, is essential. Many scientific research proves that the results we get after training are composed of 70% diet and 30% exercise. Let’s say we make some replacements; for example, replace white bread for brown or whole grain bread. In […]
Muintir na Gaillimhe…. a chat with some of Galway’s interesting inhabitants – Gill Carroll An as Gaillimh tú? Cá bhfuil tú i do chónaí anois? Gaillimheach go smior mé. Tógadh sa Daingean mé agus táim ag cónaí anois in aice Loch an tSáile. Cén obair a dhéanann tú? Tá gnó nua curtha ar bun agam le déanaí dar teideal Strive For It (http://www.strivefor.it). Tá sé dírithe ar fhiontraithe ban i nGaillimh agus ar fud na hÉireann. An misean atá againn ná tacaíocht agus spreagadh a thabhairt do mhná i mbun gnó. Táim […]
The Galway Gamer- Trench by Spud Murphy. This city has always been known for its perpetual stream of creativity, from musicians and poets to artists and all manner of street performers. Another brand of creative minds can be found in the indie game development scene where a local team, known as Howling Hamster, have excelled with the demo of their upcoming game, Trench. The game has been created by the three man operation and revolves around the theme of deep sea exploration, where the player takes control of a small submarine and must fight to survive against swarms of aquatic aliens along the ocean’s bed. These enemies range from […]
Máire Treasa Ní Dhubhghail An as Gaillimh tú? Cá bhfuil tú i do chónaí anois? Is ea! Rugadh agus tógadh mé in Indreabhán agus tá mé fós i mo chónaí ann! Rinne mé féin agus m’fhear céile athchóiriú ar theach mo mhamó agus bhog muid isteach díreach roimh na Nollag. Tá sé iontach a bheith i mo chónaí ar ais sa mbaile arís. Cén obair a dhéanann tú? Dear Candy, I’m just feckin’ cheesed off to say the least because some little bugger keeps pinching my nuts. He comes in the middle of the night and pinches them. It makes me very angry because I love my nuts and I don’t have that many. I tried to remove them from the area but he always finds them. I get such enjoyment from my nuts and the last thing I want is someone pinching them. I grew them all by myself. What should I do about it? Feckin’ squirrels! Candy: hahahahaha! Oh my gawd! I thought you were talking about something completely different and I was starting to get worried when […]
What is the first thing that ladies think about when it comes to dressing for the races?….the hat! It is the centrepiece and the determining factor between a good and a winning outfit. A lady who knows all about this is local Tuam milliner Caithriona King. Caithriona won Milliner of the Year at this year’s Irish Fashion Innovation Awards and specialises in making bespoke pieces. She has the ability to work with a client to find a style to best suit them. I have selected two headpieces from this talented milliner, and her talent can be seen through her workmanship. The first piece I chose was the ‘Linda’ headpiece in a […]
