This year’s Macnas Galway Halloween parade ‘Port na bPúcaí’ pushes it’s way through Galway city centre’s Latin Quarter on Today, 29th of October at 5.30pm. This year’s parade celebrates the wonderful spirit of the West of Ireland. Hundreds of colourful Macnas performers will depart from outside the main gates of NUI Galway campus (no admission to college grounds) and move down University Road, across the Salmon Weir Bridge, turning right at the Town Hall Theatre, moving down Francis and Eglinton Streets, before turning at Brown Thomas to move down Shop Street and into the Latin Quarter, down High Street and Quay Street. One morning, a couple of weeks ago, we hit the bog roads of Connemara to walk the dogs when we discovered that overnight the countryside must have been overtaken by spiders. We were shocked by the amount of cobwebs that literally covered the gorse bushes everywhere in sight. I am not sure what exactly happened or where all those spiders came from but they spun those webs with the speed of light. Believe me or not but every single gorse bush was wrapped in webs. Join us for Galway City Roller Derby’s annual table quiz fundraiser. This years fundraiser is held in conjunction with Galway Rape Crisis Centre. There will be fabulous quiz and raffle prizes on the night not to mention the chance to pick up some Galway City Roller Derby merchandise.
