The Mayor of the City of Galway, Cllr. Frank Fahy was in attendance on Sunday evening to meet WestBIC and the ERA-Can+ Delegation who were on a working visiting to Galway City this week.

ERA CAN is a Policy Partnership Forum of the EU and Canada and is supported by the H2020 Funding stream of the EU. Joe Greaney from WestBIC addressed the Policy Forum event in Toronto last year and brought the continuation of this forum and delegates from the East and West to meet, discuss and update Policy around Innovation Process and Support Systems, Incubation, Funding and R&D linkages for companies during a two day Roundtable visit.

Hosted by WestBIC, the discussions centred around Incubation, Technology and Start-Up Support and included delegates from Canada, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Portugal, and the UK.    “We are forging an opportunity for our Start-ups to link intelligently with Canadian counterparts” said Greaney

Whilst in Galway the delegation had the opportunity to visit Galway Technology Centre and meet with WestBIC client companies such as ExOrdo, who are a leading developer of web and mobile applications for the research publishing industry. They also took in a visit to NUI Galway to discuss the process of how Irish tech companies could meet the technology needs of the world’s researchers who are engaged in solving global problems.
