Make The Change
We are what we eat…
By Miguel MAZA
Yeah, I know… It’s a cliche. But, it’s true. For most of us who have a slow metabolism, nutrition is very important for any goal we have in our life. If we want to keep ourselves sane, or if we want to live longer. If we want to build muscle, lose fat or get stronger, nutrition or our diet, is essential. Many scientific research proves that the results we get after training are composed of 70% diet and 30% exercise.
Let’s say we make some replacements; for example, replace white bread for brown or whole grain bread. In just a couple of weeks you’ll see some changes in your body. But make sure the brown bread you get isn’t make with dextrose, sucrose, fructose, sugar, or any type of sugar, because this will hinder the results you could get. Yes, added-sugar will make you fat.
We have to remove added sugar (refined sugar) from our nutrition. Thats the one the body, most times, turn into fat, but this doesn’t mean we are going to have a bitter life. We will still get our sweets moments, from natural honey, no added sugar jam, fruits, sweet potatoes, among others. There are better alternatives out there.
Also, let’s change white potatoes for sweet potatoes. They are better as they have a higher content of fibre and lower GI, meaning that they are slow-digesting carbs. It’s the same for white and brown rice, white and wholewheat pasta. Make the switch and you will reap th rewards. Eat more veggies – like broccoli, spinach – and fruits such as berries, pineapple, banana and apple.
Just change those elements of your diet and you’ll see changes in a couple of weeks. Eating healthy is very important, it will help you feel, look and perform better, and, of course, have a longer life.
This is the first step you must do to get into a healthier lifestyle. You’ll change your life. You’ll be a happier person, more active and fitter. You’ll trust in yourself and your self-esteem will be higher. You’ll start loving yourself.
